This page is to show you everything you need to know to make a looping animation for the first Motion Reverb!
WHAT IS MOTION REVERB?
Every month, 9-12 music producers/artists will submit a looping track that responds to that month’s theme. Each track will be combined with a looping animation that an animator/motion designer (you!) will create specifically for that track.
Each song/animation colaboration will be posted to the Motion Reverb pages individually, and at the end of the challenge, there will be a larger looping montage that will showcase the different creative approaches of each producer and animator. The producers are sticking to the same BPM and musical key so that they will sound great together.
The purpose of Motion Reverb is to create a platform for motion graphics animators and music producers to collaborate. Also, it is to promote both music producers and animators, creating something bigger (and attracting/sharing a bigger audience) than the sum of each.
THIS MONTH’S THEME
Spells | Spirituality | Superstition | Witchcraft | Wizardry | the Divine | Stars | Astrology | Celestial Existance
INFO / PARAMETERS
Use the above color palette for your artwork, and one other color if you need (a small amount). This parameter is the main visual unifying element will make the whole project feel cohesive (Beside the content based on the same theme). As an example of what a color scheme can do, check out this video by Min Liu:
Aspect Ratio: Square
Size: 1080 x 1080
Loop Length: Must loop at the end of the song length, but your animation doesn’t have to be the length of the track (21 or 42 seconds). You can have a looping animation within the larger loop.
Format: H264 MP4, with Audio
Frame Rate: Divisible into 24fps. Ex; 8fps, 12fps, 16fps...
Style: Anything you want! Just take into account the theme and the particular track.
How long should I work on my animation?
I’d recommend working no more than 5 hours start to finish. Get weird and experiment, work fast, don’t be too precious about it.︎
Will I get credit?
Animations and tracks will be properly credited and will have links to all artist’s portfolios/social media accounts.
What to send:
Send your video to firstname.lastname@example.org with your portfolio/dribbble/insta/social media links.
Where/when will these be posted?
The animations will be posted individually and edited together on the Motion Reverb Instagram page (instagram.com/motionreverb) and here at motionreverb.com.
Contact me at email@example.com to get access to the tracks folder.
